It's been 6 years since the last posting on this blog. What can I say? I've been busy. I'm only posting now in order to have something new on the blog. I'm not even sure why, but what the heck.
Time can fly past so that it seems in the blink of an eye a year, or six, have gone. Be aware of the here and now. Appreciate what you have and be thankful for each day.
Signing off with a smile...

A blog about something technological
I've been watching the progress of the Apple iPhone with some interest. Not that I'd get one for myself, I'm not usually one to be lured into a faddish trend like that. Besides, I'm happy with my current mobile phone service and would probably not use the "extras" included with the whole iPhone environment... We'll see.
Right now Apple is having some difficulty negotiating with European companies to promote the sales of the iPhone. According to the BBC, "...the company has been silent on how the iPhone will be distributed in Europe, prompting speculation about operator alliances and retail partnerships."
As I said, we'll see.
Until next time...

Wow! Has it been that long?...
It's already May 21st. I can't believe it has been so long since my last post. I've been busy doing a lot with the Library's blog (spl-23.blogspot.com) in maintaining the Learning 2.0 exercises. A lot of the staff at the Library are enjoying the program. Keep up the good work!
But here's today's tip:
For some great information on growing your home garden, take a look at the Cornell Cooperative Extension's website. It's a veritable cornucopia of gardening help.
Until next time...

April already?
April has made its debut much too soon for my liking. I wasn't even finished with March. That tells me that it's about time to make a change in my stated posting frequency. I will post as often as the time and inspiration coincide. That's about as hard and fast as it's going to get. What can I say?
Today was a good, but very busy day for me. It's not over yet, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it's not an oncoming train. That's it for my monologue this evening, now for the tidbit of information.
Until next time...

According to Motor Trend Magazine's website, "Don't wash your vehicle when the sheetmetal is hot. The heat causes the soap and water to dry much faster than on a cool surface, which can make the washing process harder and possibly dull the finish. First thing in the morning is a good time to do a wash, or, if the vehicleis been parked in the shade for a while, the metal is likely to be cool enough to do it any time of the day."
Until next time...

Oops, I didn't do it again
So much for making this a daily blog. My intentions were good, but this has been an extremely busy week for me both at work and at home. I've also been distracted by the beautiful, cool, sunny weather we've been having. The dreaded summer season approaches and I'd just as soon stretch out the spring to the fall.
Down to the new tidbit of information. This one is in honor of spring;

"Try to get your spring clean up done before the grass grows. It is easier to move leaves and debris when the grass is not tall."

Day 2
I want to make sure I post at least one entry each day, but with all the stuff going on here at work, it's easy to forget. Today I've managed to find a moment on my lunch hour to drop a few lines. However, I don't plan to post just to hear myself "talk". If I don't have some tidbit of information to share I won't be filling space unnecessarily...
So here's today's tidbit;
At least once a week take an inspection walk around your car. Look for broken lights and low tire pressure. Incorrect tire pressure can reduce your gas mileage by as much as 10%.
Until next time...

One small step for man...
Hi, I'm Alan and I work at the Sachem Public Library in Holbrook, on Long Island (that's NY for those who don't know). I'm not what you'd call a web novice, but this is my first official "blog". So far, it's totally painless (unless you count the finger fatigue at having to backspace out my mistypings so often). I can see a lot of good uses for this technology. Sharing information that changes often is one of the most obvious of those ways.
In any case, I'm going to keep this brief and get my first posting done. In case you hoped you'd get something more out of reading this entry, here's a neat website that might interest you;

That's the home page of the Pew Internet and American Life project. Check it out.
Happy trails!
